Canadian soprano Cassandra Amorim, of Portuguese and Romanian heritage, is praised for her voice of “power and precision.”

In 2027, Cassandra will appear as the soprano soloist in the premiere of a new Canadian work by composer Justin Lapierre, continuing her engagement with contemporary music following her premiere of Lapierre’s oratorio The Gatherers. Cassandra made her debut with Toronto City Opera as Nedda in Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci and participated in Dolora Zajick’s Institute for Young Dramatic Voices and the Lunenburg Academy of Music Performance’s Bel Canto Academy.

Her operatic credits include Magda in Puccini’s La Rondine with Good Mess Opera Theatre, reprising the role following her earlier debut with Voicebox: Opera in Concert, and Contessa in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro with Vienna-Tel Aviv Vocal Connection in Romania.

A lifelong musician, Cassandra grew up in the orchestra pit as a violinist, falling in love with opera one overture at a time before stepping onto the stage herself. She continues her vocal studies with renowned mezzo-soprano Dolora Zajick and is a graduate of the University of Toronto’s Master of Music in Opera program.
